Entrepreneur starts a tech networking organization for women

Rachel Sklar started TheLi.st, an online community for women in the tech industry, after noticing gender disparity on a list of emerging tech experts published by New York magazine. The company has received money from angel investors and the Knight Foundation, and Sklar must now find a way to convince users that membership is worthwhile. Some women are already sold on Sklar's vision. "I first met Rachel at a happy hour ... and it ended up leading me into this group of women that has literally changed my career and my life," said Callie Schweitzer of Vox Media.
