Google's data center in Finland to use wind power from Sweden

Google has entered into a 10-year deal to buy the electricity from a proposed wind farm in Sweden to power its data center in Hamina, Finland. The purchase has helped land financing from insurer Allianz for the 72-megawatt Maevaara wind project, which is due to become fully operational in early 2015. Once online, Allianz will assume ownership while O2 Vind will be in charge of the facility's day-to-day operations.
