Many health facilities are behind in ICD-10 transition preparedness

A survey conducted by AHIMA and TrustHCS found that more than half of 293 medical care facilities surveyed were still in the initial stages of ICD-10 transition last year. The analysis also found that only 17% of the facilities had migration plans underway, and one-quarter had not begun the first steps of ICD-10 transition. "More than ever, communication and planning are the key factors to a successful transition," said AHIMA analysis authors Torrey Barnhouse and William Rudman.
