Models help predict contrast-induced nephropathy in PCI

Contrast-induced nephropathy can be predicted in patients undergoing PCI with a high degree of accuracy using two models developed by Dr. Hitinder S. Gurm and colleagues at the University of Michigan. Data on outcomes for some 48,000 patients who underwent PCI were used in the development of the models, according to the study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. The models were validated by data from another 25,000 patients.
