Pittsburgh's Eaton tapped for Ore. smart grid project

Pittsburgh-based Eaton, a developer of power management technology, is collaborating with an Oregon utility to plan and develop an 8,000-square-foot, 5 megawatt smart power center. The project, which is being undertaken with Portland General Electric in Salem, Ore., will leverage wind, solar and demand-response technology, and will help pave the way for the region to embrace the smart grid, according to PGE President and CEO Jim Piro.
