Report: Sprint iPhone base grew while AT&T, Verizon declined

The percentage of Sprint Nextel customers using iPhones grew to 38.4% from February to April compared with 33.4% a year ago, according to a report from Kantar Worldwide ComTech USA, a consumer research firm that cites conversions by customers who owned Android devices. The research shows that Android held a 51.7% share of the U.S. smartphone market for the period, compared with 41.4% for Apple's iPhone and 5.6% for Microsoft's Windows Phone platform. All three operating systems picked up share from the previous year, but Android's growth trailed its rivals. Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint saw its share of total smartphone sales rise while T-Mobile USA declined.
