Study ties longer use of tamoxifen to lower risk of cancer recurrence

Longer tamoxifen use was associated with lower risk of breast cancer recurrence and death, according to a study presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting. Researchers found women who continued using tamoxifen for 10 years had a 25% lower rate of cancer recurrence and were 23% less likely to die of breast cancer than those who took the drug for five years.
