Tourism agency: Hawaii's tourist spending rose 1.8% in April

Preliminary data from the Hawaii Tourism Authority show that tourist spending in Hawaii reached $1.1 billion in April, up 1.8% from figures in April last year. Arrivals rose 3.1% in April, to 666,959. Expenditures during the first four months of the year climbed 6.3% year over year as arrivals rose 6.1%.
