Va. STEM professionals share insights with students, parents

Professionals from science, technology, engineering and math fields recently spoke at the NOVA STEM Alliance Career Festival in Virginia. They explained to students and parents how the lessons learned in STEM subjects are vital to careers, ranging from aviation to molecular biology. "In order to participate and compete in these fields, students are going to have to be willing to take challenging courses such as calculus," said Jared Hennings, who moderated a panel of STEM professionals. "Parental encouragement and awareness of these areas can do a great deal towards getting young people involved and staying interested in these areas."
