Atherectomy outcomes hold up longer-term with lower costs

Patients with high-risk lesions with severe calcification were treated at lower cost and experienced better health outcomes at one year as well as shorter hospitalization during treatment with the Diamondback 360 atherectomy device, according to data presented at the SCAI 2014 Scientific Sessions. Stent delivery was successful in nearly 98% of cases, and more than 98% of patients had less than 50% residual stenosis after treatment. Per-patient cost reduction was more than $2,500.
