Survey: American tourists are generous, loud, messy

A survey of more than 4,000 hoteliers rated Japanese the best tourists, while Americans are generous, but also loud and not well-dressed. The survey's 10 categories are popularity, manners, behavior, willingness to try local cuisine and learn the language, generosity, volume, tidiness, propensity to complain and fashion sense. After Japan, British and German tourists tied for second, while Americans came in eleventh.
