CFTC chief to urge lawmakers to put restrictions on derivatives

Gary G. Gensler, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, is set to testify today before the Senate Agriculture Committee. He is expected to ask lawmakers to impose restrictions and significant expenses on financial institutions that trade derivatives. Lawmakers are expecting Gensler to propose a set of regulations for individual derivatives dealers and another for the derivatives marketplace.
