India's president to push for more foreign investment

Promising expanded infrastructure investment to accelerate economic growth, Indian President Prathibha Patil said the government will encourage inflows of foreign investment, list shares of state-owned firms and invest more capital in the nation's banks. "Our immediate priority must be to focus on management of the economy that will counter the effect of the global slowdown," she said.
