Home-based school adapts to needs of students with disabilities

Sonrisa School in Mission Viejo, Calif., offers a learning environment that caters to students with autism, Down syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and other special needs. Educator Priya Guttal, who has been operating the school out of her home for 10 years, incorporates mile-long walks and trips to the grocery store into the state-approved academic curriculum, which she adapts to meet each student's individual needs.
