Disney to offer "digital copy" alternative to UltraViolet

Walt Disney Studios on June 11 will launch its Disney Digital Copy Plus website, offering purchasers of its Blu-ray discs and DVDs a way to access a digital copy of their video content without using the cloud-based UltraViolet service supported by other Hollywood studios. With the Web-based access, "this allows for the capability to redeem the digital version of your movie on any connected device. You no longer have to wait until you get home to insert a disc into your computer," a Disney spokesperson said.
