Federal Rx drug tracking bill clears House

The House passed a measure Monday that would establish a federal system to facilitate the tracking of treatments from drugmakers to pharmacies. The Safeguarding America's Pharmaceuticals Act, which is intended to curb counterfeit medications, was approved in a voice vote. The bill was opposed by some Democrats, who said it doesn't go far enough to guarantee safety. Verification of treatments' authenticity will be required in steps along the supply chain.
