Group advises OSA screening for type 2 diabetes patients

Patients with type 2 diabetes or hypertension are at an increased risk of obstructive sleep apnea and should be assessed for the condition, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine said. Diagnosing and treating sleep apnea can help improve insulin sensitivity, blood pressure and cholesterol in patients, AASM President Dr. Safwan Badr said.
