How to create adaptive foreground images

A "clown car technique" to include a number of images in one SVG image file can be used to create adaptive foreground images as part of a responsive Web design, writes Estelle Weyl. The method separates image logic from content concerns, but it also requires a CSS layout to render completely before images will appear.
