Lancôme sponsors CrowdOptic augmented reality display

A CrowdOptic-designed augmented reality art display will promote beauty brand Lancôme at Toronto's Luminato Festival. After downloading a dedicated application, participants will view a virtual outdoor art gallery and leave behind a "crowdsourced version of the iconic Lancôme rose spanning the length of an entire city square," writes Tarun Wadhwa. The CrowdOptic approach compares the data of different phones, using analytics to create a shared experience, a controversial idea that could find use beyond advertising in industrial applications and in emergency management, for example.
