Lifting body of 1960s gets 21st century update

A lifting body for space transport similar in design to one tested more than 50 years ago is due for its initial flight test this month at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center. The Dream Chaser, built by Sierra Nevada Corp., is a proof-of-concept vehicle where the body itself produces lift and is capable of carrying seven astronauts. An orbital demonstration is expected sometime in the next four years.
