Study compares pulmonary nodule management approaches

Dynamic area-detector CT analyzed with a dual-input maximum slope approach is better than other mathematical techniques for managing pulmonary nodules with FDG-PET/CT, according to a study published in the American Journal of Roentgenology. The accuracy of total perfusion was higher than other approaches at 83%, the study said. The findings indicate the method "can show significant and reproducible differences among malignant nodules, benign nodules with anticipated low biologic activity, and benign nodules with anticipated high biologic activity," according to researchers.
