Sonography may match CT for abdominal hernia evaluation

Dynamic abdominal sonography is comparable to CT for diagnosing abdominal hernias, according to a report in JAMA Surgery. Dynamic abdominal sonography also has the advantage of being a bedside procedure with readily available results and no ionizing radiation exposure. However, CT allows better evaluation of certain aspects of large and complex ventral hernias, noted one physician.
