Acer deal preps E-Ten for smartphone release

In wake of Acer's deal earlier this year to acquire Taiwan's E-Ten for about $296 million, E-Ten plans to launch three touch-screen smartphones with the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system installed. The company said it would roll out two of the phones, the X900 and DX900, in October, and the V900 -- which features mobile TV -- at an unannounced later date.
