Calif. AG says online database would help stop drug abuse

California Attorney General Jerry Brown wants to give medical providers and pharmacists quick Internet access to patient prescription drug histories to prevent people from "doctor shopping" and abusing prescription drugs. He says a privately funded online database would allow providers to tap into patient records right away rather than mailing or faxing requests for such information.
