Continental will cut domestic departures, jobs

Continental Airlines on Thursday announced plans to shed 3,000 jobs and cut domestic departures in the fourth quarter by 16%. Under pressure from skyrocketing jet fuel costs, the airline said it will start cutting departures in September and that it expects capacity to fall by 11%. Continental also said it will speed up the retirement of some of its older jets.
