Five-day antibiotic course effective for COPD flare-ups

A Dutch review of 21 studies that included more than 10,000 patients finds a short course of antibiotics works as well as a longer regimen for treating flare-ups of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The researchers suggest antibiotic treatment for no longer than five days for patients with COPD flare-ups.
