Investors make long-term bets on global need for food

As the prices for wheat, soybeans, corn and other commodities have soared in the past year, many investors and investment funds have poured money into the commodities markets. The growing global demand for food has even prompted a few large private investors to buy farmland, grain elevators, fertilizer and other farm-related investments.
