Survey: E-mail prompts drive Web purchases

Almost two-thirds of U.S. Web users said e-mail was their preferred method for written communications between friends, followed by text messaging, according to a recent survey. Marketing preferences differed by age group, but almost two-thirds of those surveyed also said they had purchased a product because of an e-mail marketing message.
