Craig Venter's company works on algae for biofuel production

Synthetic Genomics has genetically enhanced an algae species that could be used as a feedstock for biofuel production. The San Diego-based startup, which was co-founded by renowned geneticist Craig Venter, says the biotech algae has been optimized to generate more lipids, a group of organic molecules involved in energy storage.
