Irrigation industry hits dry spell during recession

The irrigation industry in the U.S. has been hard hit by the recession, but some contractors see growth in green building and retrofitting existing systems. Installing new irrigation systems relies heavily on a healthy housing market, but the market for entry-level homes has not yet recovered. However, droughts in some markets and increasing water penalties have renewed an interest in irrigation systems.
