Study: Officials miscalculated pigs as source of new flu strains

Health officials appear to have underestimated the risk of pig populations becoming a source of new flu strains, according to researchers in Mexico who examined samples from people infected with the H1N1 swine flu virus. The researchers said officials failed to put in place enough measures to monitor influenza in pigs.
