Tennessee Valley Authority to construct $820M natural gas plant

The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to build an $820 million natural-gas powerplant to comply with a lawsuit over clean air filed by North Carolina. The lawsuit alleged four TVA coal-fired plants were polluting North Carolina's air, and the utility agreed to clean up the plants by 2011. The 880-megawatt plant in northeastern Tennessee should be on line by the end of 2011.
