AMA seeks flexibility in ACO regulations

The American Medical Association has expressed concerns that the CMS proposal on accountable care organizations is too restrictive and could hinder many providers from joining the ACOs. "This would be a missed opportunity to fully explore this new care delivery and payment model for the Medicare program," said outgoing AMA CEO Dr. Michael Maves. AMA proposed leaving the door open for changes after ACO implementation begins.
