Airline industry set to offer consumers more booking options

While airline websites currently offer customers more content than agencies can, airlines are seeking to change that through an enhanced Web platform that could be widely available within two years if the world's airlines succeed with a pilot demonstration, scheduled for October at the World Passenger Summit. "Airlines offer a rich customer-centric shopping experience on their own websites and we want travel agents to have similar capabilities," said Eric Leopold, a senior International Air Transport Association official.
