Are the arts making a comeback in schools?

Some schools are bucking trends and are expanding time for the arts while lengthening school days, according to a report by The National Center on Time & Learning. The report profiles five such schools across the country that have added additional time for students to learn dance, art, music and other subjects, as well as dedicated appropriate staffing and resources to the arts, education reporter Nora Fleming writes in this blog post. At one school in Denver, students are asked to choose from several eight-week elective courses in subjects such as computer drawing and photography.
