Many patients open to receiving care from PAs, NPs

A patient survey published in Health Affairs showed that although 50.4% of respondents said they prefer seeing doctors, 25.9% did not indicate any preference, and 22.8% said they would rather see a physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Meanwhile, a policy brief in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine found 59.8% of responding family doctors routinely work with professionals including NPs, PAs and certified nurse midwives.
