Mars follows genetic trail to better cocoa

By mapping the genetic sequence of cocoa, Mars is on a path toward developing cacao trees that are better able to resist disease and yield tastier chocolate. "With the final genome assembly, we can improve the breeding process using these markers," said Juan Carlos Motomayor, Mars program manager of genomics and genetics.
