More patients turn to hospital EDs for dental problems

The number of U.S. emergency department visits for dental care nearly doubled over the decade ending in 2010, according to data from the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey, growing at a faster rate than all-cause emergency-department visits. States reduced Medicaid benefits for adults, and employers also cut back on dental benefits over the study period.
