NBA is expected to reap big rewards with new TV contract

The NBA is likely to be in the driver's seat when negotiations begin this year for a new TV contract. The league's current deals with ESPN/ABC and TNT, worth $930 million a year, are up at the end of the 2015-2016 season. "I like the NBA's position and I think they are due for a very, very substantial catch-up just to get up to the market level," said Ed Desser of Desser Sports Media. "There's a buzz about the NBA. It's probably the most international of U.S. sports leagues in terms of its appeal."
