New science standards approved by Ky. state board

New science standards for K-12 students were unanimously approved Wednesday by the Kentucky state Board of Education. Opponents had criticized the "Next Generation" standards over their treatment of topics such as evolution and climate change, however no one from the public voiced dissent at Wednesday's meeting. The new standards are scheduled to take effect during the 2014-15 school year, following public hearings and a legislative review.
