Try different tactic in counseling men with belly fat, RDs say

Dietitians should take a performance-based approach rather than focusing on health risks when counseling and motivating men with abdominal fat to adopt a healthy lifestyle and lose weight, says registered dietitian David Grotto. RD Manuel Villacorta says he focuses on waist management rather than weight management because men tend to think weight loss is for women. Villacorta says he gives clients healthy-eating ideas and a meal plan that "speaks to them" because guys do not like to go hungry.
