Sports marketing has a long tradition, but not every promotion goes as intended. Among the worst: McDonald's decision to offer free food every time the U.S. won a medal at the 1984 Olympics, which was boycotted by the Soviet Union; XFL, a not-so-extreme version of the NFL; and LeBron James' infamous "Decision" TV special.
