Are mobile apps the best option for summer learning?

Students are being encouraged to stay connected and learning over the summer using a growing library of educational mobile applications. However, some experts question whether more "screen time" actually helps to keep students from avoiding summer slide, or whether it just amounts to staying plugged in. Alfie Kohn, author of books on child development and education, says it's important for parents to consider the purpose of the apps before buying in.
