Pinterest opens ads to everyone with self-serve product

All users can start placing advertisements on Pinterest as the site ends a successful test of its Promoted Pins and launches a self-service product. The unit can target users based on images they pin and is sophisticated enough to tell the difference between a dream trip and a specific, upcoming travel to another country. Opening up ads "was super important for Facebook -- it'll be really important for us as well," said Pinterest's head of operations, Don Faul.
