Women's Law Center Alleges Gender Bias In Vocational Classes

The National Women's Law Center today was expected to ask the Department of Education to investigate whether vocational programs in some states violate Title IX, a law that prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded programs, reports say. Girls in vocational programs often are funneled into cosmetology and clerical classes, resulting in women getting stuck in low wage careers, the group says.
