Stem cell restriction dropped from Wisconsin biotech proposal

The Wisconsin Legislature's budget committee has approved the first phase of a new $380 million research project after the co-chairman dropped a proposal to restrict funding support for embryonic stem cell research. Gov. Jim Doyle, who proposed creating the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery earlier this year, had refused to accept the prohibition.
