U.S. wind debate gains force

The big environmental groups in the U.S. tend to favor wind power, which is expanding in the country as one alternative energy source to fossil fuels. But wind power is not liked by everybody, even in the environmental movement, with opponents arguing the turbines kill birds and bats and are noisy and largely inefficient.
