California facility to be first green data center in West

Data centers, which use billions of kilowatt hours to power the nation's Internet servers, are prime candidates for energy efficient measures, and San Francisco's 365 Main data center is leading the way. The center says it has started work on the first "green" data center in the West to be in full compliance with the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification.
