Fed rate cut seen as unlikely

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke's comments Tuesday that a cut in interest rates wasn't forthcoming caused stocks to stumble. With no rate cut likely, mortgage costs are expected to continue to rise. Bernanke cited surprising strength in the U.S. economy as a reason for the Fed's comfort level with current rates.
