House rejects bill to ban human cloning for reproduction

The House on Wednesday voted down a Democratic-backed bill to ban cloning for human reproductive purposes. House Republicans said they opposed the measure because they believe it would allow human embryo cloning for research. A vote is set for today on a bill overriding White House limits on funding embryonic stem cell research.
